Everyone makes fun of Jaden but his tweet is not nonsensical, it’s just basic-level philosophy.

“How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real?”

It seems like every white internet user forgets that Jaden is a black rapper, son of a black rapper, who grew up in and is embedded in urban culture. You’re reading this with the literal, standard interpretation of “real”, when there is a widely known, hip definition for “real” as in “be real with me, man”.

The translation for this infamous tweet, then, has always been obvious and right in front of your nose:

“How can mirrors be true and honest when our eyes aren’t true and honest?”

This brings Jaden’s tweet up to the level of trite and cliche, but it still has logic and meaning on the level of Plato’s cave. It’s certainly not the mindless rambling of an incoherent and out-of-touch teenager that every suburban redditor seems to think it is.

Edit: I think some people are getting subconciously offended by some perceived implication of subtle racism here. That’s not the case at all – but it is equally obvious that the tweet and its subsequent misinterpretation and absorption into popular internet meme culture is the result of an intersection of differing race, culture, and language, and it is intentionally naive to insist otherwise.
